Hi, I’m Brian.

I am a music industry professional from New York. I grew up performing on the stages of the theater, blowing my trombone in jazz band, singing in my college a cappella group, and belting out my favorite tunes while driving. As I grew older, my love for not only music grew, but that of the industry.

I graduated from the State University of New York in Oneonta in May of 2018 with a Bachelors of Arts in Music Industry. I am devoted to helping artists protect their musical interests and creative work while teaching them the basics of the music business, which can be a messy and challenging environment to traverse!

Who are your favorite artists?

I was raised listening to The Beatles and they will forever be my favorite band. I have a collection of original vinyls that I started collected years ago. My most valuable of the bunch, and also my favorite, would have to be the White album. Currently some of my other favorite artists are R.LUM.R, Mac Ayres, Maggie Rogers, Allen Stone, Lawrence the Band, Jeremy Zucker, Marc E. Bassy and Rex Orange County!

Where is your favorite music venue and why?

While interning in Nashville, I had the chance to see a variety of venues ranging from classic music halls to stages in breweries. However, my favorite was Mercy Lounge. I may be biased because I interned there! But, every show, no matter the genre, brought a unique energy. I also loved the supportive nature and community the venue brought to Nashville.

Who is one of your favorite artists you’ve seen live?

I saw Maggie Rogers live about two year ago in Madison Square Garden as she accompanied Mumford and Sons across their U.S. tour. She had such contagious energy that the entire audience resonated with. Each song she poured her heart and soul into. She used the entire stage, in ways complementing each of her songs and there was not a moment she tired out. Whether she was playing one of her jams that kept the energy high or one of her more ethereal songs, the audience was in a constant trance. I genuinely wished she played longer!

What about the music industry intrigues you?

The music industry is a complex and ever changing industry. You have to constantly keep on your toes to adapt and learn as the industry evolves. Standards in the industry change so constantly that the naive musician will be left behind if they don’t follow the trends. These trends dramatically change the way the creative workspace is navigated. There are so many under appreciated and talented artists that have a voice that needs to be heard. Music has a defining factor on our culture and world view. If I can help an artist get their voice heard that is a success.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I believe right now is the time for me to soak up as much knowledge regarding the industry as possible. This means taking on new opportunities that give me the chance to see different segments of the industry. As I further develop my knowledge and skills I see myself being an executive at a Music Publisher or Record Label. I would like to help shape the perception and misconceptions around record labels and to create more stable deals that are beneficial for all parties.

What are some attributes of your work you are trying to improve?

In my work, I consider myself a perfectionist and self starter. I consistently take on projects no matter the challenge and depth. This can lead to the need to be efficient and effective in prioritizing the projects themselves and myself. I have been working on delegating tasks efficiently and trusting my fellow co-workers work product while taking on the role of managing the workflow. To trust my co-workers, I have to make sure I am concisely and clearly explaining the instructions of the project to them.
